Our group of travelling seniors played here Thursday, 4-22-09, for $25 each.
It was a cool and windy day, after three days of showers, so the course was a little soggy, but not too bad, and greens were firm and fast. Surprisingly, only three holes were Cart Path Only, so obviously the course drains well.
Layout is average, only a few memorable holes (I like #11, #13, and #17). Front nine is mostly flat; has only 3 holes with any elevation change, back is about the same. Not too much water: only comes into serious play on #3 and #17. Tee boxes are smallish, but mostly flat, fairways are pretty wide and rough is minimal (it is difficult to lose a ball on this course). Greens are medium large, most are sloped, and a few are heavily contoured, all putted moderately fast and true the day we played. A few bumpy spots on a couple of holes, but most were pretty good. Bunkers are mostly greenside, and were in decent shape. Overall, the course is an average layout for the area, and is priced competitively.
Where Briarwood shines is in the clubhouse: the pro shop is VERY well stocked with clubs, balls, and bags, and is competitively priced with Dicks, Sports Authority, et. al. Pro shop staff is knowledgeable, professional and very helpful. Snack bar is a delight: nothing fancy, just good stuff, fairly priced, and attended by "Mom" or someone who looks just like her. Very friendly, very good service, and welcoming. Give Briarwood a try...and eat at the course!

Our group of travelling seniors plays here a couple of times a year, and we are always welcomed with open arms. The course is ordinary, but the staff is top-notch. Kinda like going to "Cheers." Conditions today were good, especially considering the persistent rain of this very wet spring. Generally, the group scores pretty well on this course, and this round was no exception. Overall, this is a nice "neighborhood" course, with a very comfortable feel to it. We recommend.
